Client: Mark Spence
The house lies concealed in bushland in Whale Beach north of Sydney. The challenge for the site lay in the extreme slope of the land, clay soils and a number of large rockforms that the client wished to retain. The solution was a triangular form in plan that follows the edge of the rock face to the north. In section the building steps with the slope of the land, under one single roof plane. Beams following the slope of the roof are expressed wherever possible.
